THEORY

 

By distillation we can separate substances with different boiling temperature.

If we start to heat up a solution of two fluids, in lower temperatures the component with lower boiling temperature evaporates more quickly than the other one. That is why the composition of the vapour is different from the composition of the solution. Condensing this vapour we obtain a solution which contains mostly the component whit lower boiling temperature.
